Description
Origin of the Enigma Strain
The Enigma project began in 2017 with advanced strain fusion techniques using a process called anastomosis. The team at MagicMyco even employed a modified stun gun to electrically fuse hyphae, producing an extraordinary hybrid that became the foundation for TW2. First cultivated during the solar eclipse of August 2017, TW2 and its sibling strains (like Tsunami, Trinity, and TePe) are the result of years of innovation and refinement.
Growth Characteristics
Enigma (TW2) grows in dense, brain-like or coral-shaped clusters rather than forming traditional mushroom caps. This makes it highly unusual not only in appearance but also in growth behaviour. It is a slow grower and a poor sporulator, often taking longer than other Psilocybe cubensis strains to mature.
Microscopy Use and Spores
TW2 is a notoriously slow sporulator, making spore collection a challenge, but a rewarding one for dedicated researchers. Under the microscope, Enigma spores exhibit classic Psilocybe cubensis features:
- Ellipsoid shape
- Smooth surface texture
- Rich purplish-brown colour
- Approximately 11–17 × 7–12 µm in size
Their rarity, combined with hybridised lineage, makes them particularly intriguing for comparative analysis and taxonomic classification.
Cultivation Notes (Where Legal)
In regions where cultivation is permitted, Enigma is known for its slow colonisation and preference for nutrient-rich substrates. It performs best in carefully controlled environments, with consistent humidity and temperatures. Due to its dense growth habit, additional surface area and airflow management are key for optimal yields.
Included with Every Spore Syringe Purchase:
- 1x 18g sterile needle in a sealed packet
- We have decided not to include alcohol swabs with syringes purchases. Wiping or touching the needle before injection will cause bacterial infection.
How to Use Your Enigma Spore Syringe:
- Unscrew the syringe end cap.
- Open the sterile needle packet and screw the coloured needle hub into the syringe.
- Remove the needle protector when ready to use.
- Inject the required amount of spore solution into your microscopy sample or slide.
- Reattach the needle protector and discard the syringe responsibly after use.
Storage Instructions:
- Unused Syringes: Store in original packaging in a refrigerator at 2–8 °C.
- Partially Used Syringes: Reseal with the end cap and store refrigerated. Always use a new sterile needle for reuse.
Can Enigma Spore Syringes Be Reused?
Yes. If you do not use the full syringe in one session, you can safely reuse it by following proper storage and handling procedures. Always recap the syringe, store it in the fridge at 2–8 °C, and use a fresh sterile needle each time to maintain sterility and avoid contamination.
