Strengthen Mycelium and Prevent Contamination

Incorporating calcium sulphate into your substrate mix strengthens mycelium, promotes faster growth, and improves resistance to contamination. Gypsum ensures mushroom substrate enhancement, delivering consistent, high-quality yields throughout the growing process.

Suitable for All Mushroom Growing Setups

Whether growing in bulk or using smaller setups, calcium sulphate is essential for mycologists seeking better results. This gypsum supplement is ideal for any mushroom-growing technique, supporting healthy fungi growth and robust harvests.

Description

Boost Mushroom Growth with Agricultural Gypsum

Agricultural Gypsum (Calcium Sulphate) is a powerful mycology substrate additive that promotes robust mushroom growth and improves substrate health. Its role as a soil conditioner helps balance pH levels, creating an ideal environment for fungi cultivation. The addition of gypsum enhances nutrient availability, ensuring stronger, healthier yields.

pH Stabilizer for Bulk Substrates

Gypsum acts as a substrate pH stabilizer, preventing nutrient lockout and supporting the optimal development of mycelium. It’s especially beneficial for grain spawn, compost, and other growing media. By enhancing aeration and water retention, it improves conditions for faster colonization.

Mycological Experiment Using Agricultural Gypsum (Calcium Sulphate)

Objective:
To explore how Agricultural Gypsum (Calcium Sulphate) enhances mycelium growth by stabilizing pH and improving the overall substrate structure in mushroom growing.

Materials Needed:

  • Agricultural Gypsum (Calcium Sulphate)
  • Mushroom substrate (e.g., coco coir, vermiculite)
  • Grain spawn
  • Distilled water
  • Sterile mixing tools
  • Growing containers
  • pH meter
  • Mushroom strain (e.g., Psilocybe cubensis)

Procedure:

  1. Prepare Substrate:
Mix 5% by volume of Agricultural Gypsum with your chosen substrate (e.g., coco coir, vermiculite). Ensure an even distribution of gypsum throughout the mix. The gypsum acts as a pH stabilizer and nutrient enhancer for the mycelium.
  2. Hydrate Substrate:
Hydrate the substrate with distilled water to reach field capacity, ensuring moisture is evenly distributed without over-saturation. Measure the pH of the substrate before and after gypsum addition to observe changes in pH levels.
  3. Inoculate with Grain Spawn:
Add grain spawn to the substrate mix and evenly distribute. The calcium sulphate in the gypsum will help strengthen the substrate structure, encouraging faster mycelium colonization.
  4. Incubation:
Place the inoculated substrate in a sterile container and store it in a controlled environment at 25-27°C. Observe the mycelium growth daily.
  5. Monitor Mycelium Growth:
Track the speed of colonization and any changes in the health of the mycelium. Compare this with a control group (substrate without gypsum). You should see stronger, more vigorous mycelium in the gypsum treated substrate.
  6. Results:
After colonization, measure yield and mushroom health. Gypsum is expected to boost substrate quality and promote higher yields and resistance to contamination.

This experiment demonstrates how adding Agricultural Gypsum (Calcium Sulphate) improves mushroom growing by enhancing substrate structure, pH stability, and overall growth conditions.
