Well as you know, SporeBuddies.com is always trying to simplify and speed up the mushroom growing process.
With the old style Inject and Forget Bags, we removed the need to care for the bag. No fanning and no misting needed from start to finish. That really did make life a lot easier for the customer.
With the new style "LightBags". SporeBuddies.com has now completely removed the need for any "colonize in the dark" period prior to fruiting. Instead the bags are placed into the light from the very first day. The bags remain in the 12/12 light cycle from the moment you inoculate the bags to the day you harvest your gourmet mushrooms. No fanning or Misting needed and now no need for a dark colonize period.
That's right....
The new "LightBags" do not need to be placed into the dark at all......
Why??? Please read on......
Don't ask me how.... But I came up with a theory that we should allow the mycelium to choose when its ready to produce fruit.
I have realized over the years. That we as humans need years of experience to judge when a substrate is colonized perfectly enough to fruit. The mycelium is already primed with this information and so our best efforts will only slow the fruiting process down.
By placing the "LightBags" into the light and thus into the fruiting state from day one (Inoculation day). The mushroom mycelium is able to do what it has done for the last 120million odd years. Fruit as soon as it is ready too. Removing the problem of when to fruit from the customers to do list reduces the time taken for the project to work.
With the new style of inject and forget bags colonizing so fast and evenly. We create the Dung pile effect. As the forming mycelium senses light waves, it knows its nearly at the surface and must hurry to colonize as much substrate as it can before the light waves start a hormonal change which induces fruiting. This sense of hurry in the mycelium makes the mycelium colonize the available substrate fast.
As the mycelium has been allowed to choose when it is ready to fruit. It chooses ASAP as its mode of thinking, meaning start to finish harvest times of 27-35days are very real.
This has always been my favorite part of the job. The writing up of new inventions and teks. I will add to this section over this week and next to full explain and explore this wonderful new mushroom growing system.
