To set up a digital mushroom heating mat for growing mushrooms in a mushroom grow bag, follow these steps:
- Position the Heat Mat: Place a towel down on a flat, stable surface. Now place the heating pad on top of the towel.
- Attach the Temperature Probe: Tape the temperature probe securely to one of the black sections on the heat mat to ensure accurate readings.
- Plug in the Heat Mat: Plug the heat mat into a standard outlet. Ensure the digital display is visible for easy temperature adjustments.
- Set the Temperature: The mat comes pre-set to turn on at 26°C and off at 27°C which is the ideal range for mushroom substrate. If you want to change the settings, press and hold the left arrow for 3 seconds to set the “on” temperature. Use the up and down arrows to adjust, then repeat for the “off” temperature by pressing the right arrow.
- Place the Mushroom Grow Bag: Position the mushroom grow bag on top of the heat mat. Ensure it’s directly over the heat mat temperature probe.
- Monitor the Process: Regularly check the digital display to make sure the heat mat is maintaining the ideal temperature range. You can also adjust the airflow by adding ventilation holes in the storage tote or mushroom growing space.
- Keep the heat in: To help build up the heat around the mushroom grow bag. You can place an upside down storage box over the heat mat and the mushroom growbag. This makes an under floor heated green house. Your mushroom grow bag will do very well in this set up.
