Description

History & Origins

This strain traces its lineage to the remote valleys of the Yarlung Tsangpo River in Tibet, a region home to some of the world’s most resilient flora and fungi. Named in homage to the Sherpa people who inhabit the high-altitude environments nearby, Purple Sherpa has developed traits that allow it to thrive in tough, low-nutrient conditions. These environmental pressures have helped shape a genetically strong and adaptable strain.

Growth Characteristics

Purple Sherpa spores produce vigorous, fast-colonising mycelium and perform well on a variety of substrates:

  • Compatible with brown rice flour, grains, compost, pasteurised dung, and straw.
  • Colonisation temperature: 24–27 °C
  • Fruiting temperature: 22–27 °C

Microscopic Features

Under the microscope, Purple Sherpa spores typically display:

  • Shape: Ellipsoid with smooth walls
  • Size: Approx. 11–17 × 7–12 µm
  • Colour: Deep purplish-brown
  • Surface: Smooth, ideal for spore printing and slide examination

Instructions for Use
